The Wool Shop Ghost Sign: A Love Letter to Knitting & Vintage Typography

Hidden on Nottingham Road in Loughborough, The Wool Shop ghost sign is a beautifully faded relic of the past. Once home to a local wool merchant, this hand-painted sign has outlasted the shop itself—so I’ve reimagined it as a bold, limited-edition A3 Risograph print. Inspired by my love for knitting, ghost signs, and typography, this print brings a piece of Loughborough’s history back to life.

After years of running a successful lettering business in the wedding industry, I found myself drawn toward the world of traditional sign writing. In 2023, I was awarded the Arts Council’s DYCP grant, allowing me to refine my craft, learn from master sign writers, and bring hand-painted signage and murals to small high streets.
